Happy New Year: Take II

January 1, 2016

It’s hard to believe a full year has passed since my last post. I guess sometimes things just don’t go the way we hope or plan. This was the case for me in 2015, I’ll briefly explain.

I wasn’t able to focus on new work coming from the studio because I became far to involved with milling lumber for myself , clients and a local tree company. Milling for the local tree company became more involved than expected and I soon took on more duties. Doing this took away time that should have been spent in the studio but it was a somewhat steady paycheck so I carried on. This went on until the Fall when I decided to take a break from milling all together. It’s doubtful I will travel down the milling road again, I had my fill.

It was about this same time that I learned my mother has stage 4 cancer. Since you can imagine how this can affect one’s life I won’t go into detail explaining. Thankfully she is doing well and still with us & fighting. Sadly though I just lost a friend to the same terrible c word. I also need to mention that I just turned 50 in November and realized my own mortality. To sum things up 2015 has been an awful year financially¬†& personally but it has shown me how short life is and how quickly it can pass you by. It’s time to start making changes, better decisions and get back into the studio.

Here’s a toast to a better year ahead!
